Moniek- Piggy Tales

When I first saw the Piggy Tales Mulan collection with the black and red patterns I immediately thought about the soccer outfit of my son. The colors of his club are black and red!
Most of the papers have an asian print, but I used the Valiant Soldier paper with the strips..... perfect for a soccer layout of my son!

I use a Heidi Swapp 9x9 album for all soccer layouts, so this layout is 9x9.

Mireille- TATTERED ANGELS

Today's mini album from Mireille combines a few different techniques using Glimmer Mist. Please read her how to to find out more!

Summer Memories
by Mireille Divjak

SUPPLIES
Album: Kaisercraft Scallop planner
Glimmer mist: Tattered Angels * Pink Bubblegum * Fully Purple
Flowers: Prima Marketing Inc.
Ribbon: Lace from stack
Glimmer Glass: Tattered Angels
Glimmer chips: Tattered Angels
Stickers: 7 gypsies & Adorn it, Carolee's creations
Dimensional Pearls: Ranger
Jewel Brads: Royal jewels Imaginisce
Bling Brads: Fairy Dust Brads - Imaginisce
Paper Lace: Creative Imaginations
Paper Frills: Doodlebug
Pen: American Crafts
Glossy Accents : Ranger

HOW TO
Spray the pink glimmer mist on the wood pages. Let dry. Use your stencils then spray the purple glimmer mist over the pages.
The chipboard pieces are sprayed with both pink and purple glimmermist. So are the paperfrills and the white paper flowers.
Then your craftsheet will be filled with glimmermist. I used it all by dragging my white ribbon through it. Now I have ribbon in matching colors.
For the glimmer glass I sprayed both pink and purple glimmer mist in a glass bowl. I used my heatgun to make the water disappear. Now you will be left with the glimmer pigment.
Mix it with glossy accents and paint it onto the backside of the glass.
I used it on my pages sometimes with the correct side up and sometimes just the backside.. just how I thought it looked better.
Decorate to your own liking.

Jess- Altered Remote Caddy **HOME DECOR**

I've had this remote control caddy for a number of years. It is a bit beat-up, but since it serves it's purpose well, I have not had the heart to throw it. I went through my paper collection to find something that would match my bedroom decor. The end result is simple, colorful, and most importantly; it functions properly.

Altered Remote Caddy
by Jessica Summers

SUPPLIES
Patterned Paper: 7 Gypsies Zanzibar- "Farah," "Sitrah," and "Gazi."
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Inks- "Weathered Wood," "Tea Dye," and "Walnut Stain."
Glimmer Mist: Tattered Angels- "Suede"
Chatterbox Doodle Genie
Miscellaneous: Brown Pen, Buttons, Embroidery Thread, Modge Podge, Brayer, sandpaper.

HOW TO
Measure the dimensions of your caddy and cut your paper accordingly. Apply a thin and even layer of modge podge (working on one section at a time), and adhere your paper.
Use your brayer to push out any excess glue and air bubbles.
Once the paper is dry, use your sandpaper to remove any overhang from the paper and to distress the edges.
Ink along the edges of the paper (you will need to do this step before you put the paper on the inner sections of the caddy).
The flowers are hand-drawn, in various sizes. Some are sprayed down with Glimmer Mist first to change the color.
Once your flowers are cut out, crumple them up. Slightly flatten them on your table top and run the Tea Dye across the top, letting it hit the high points on the wrinkles.
Layer your flowers and top it off with a button.
Lastly, use the Chatterbox Doodle Genie to draw out a couple of swirls. Carefully cut out and adhere under a couple of the flowers for extra texture.

Emma- The House that Love Built

Today we have another altered Creative Imaginations project from Emma. She decorated this funky little house with papers from the 7 Gypsies Zanzibar line. We love the funky layers on the outside of the book and the colorful simplicity on the inside.

"The House that Love Built"
by Emma Trout

SUPPLIES
House mini book: Creative Imaginations
Patterned papers: 7 Gypsies Zanzibar range,
Bazzill cardstock scraps
American Crafts rub-ons (Purkey), Making Memories mini rub-ons.
Ribbons, Dymo, a button, gems.

HOW TO
Paint the edges of the mini book with black acrylic paint and leave to dry.
Cut patterned paper into rectangles, chimney shapes and roof shapes slightly smaller than the measurements of the mini book so that when they are applied to the book it leaves a small black edge of the paint showing.
I added a tag in between each section by folding the bottom edge of the tag and glueing that folded section to the mini book. The patterned paper was then added on top of this to cover the fold. Decorate each section with photos, journaling and 7 gypsies’ stickers.
Cover the front with patterned paper as before and add a title made with American Crafts and Making Memories rub-ons and Dymo. I also added ribbons, gems, a button, a patterned paper heart and spirals of thin strips of Bazzill.

They both design for a challenge blog, Scrapping the Music and have formed a close on-line relationship despite the distance between them (Barbara lives in the United States).

Sending My Letters To You

When was the last time you picked up a pen and wrote an actual letter? In this day and age, technology gives us an instant link to family and friends. This isn't the case for everyone though. Today, Emma has a layout dedicate to the lost art of letter writing. It is the only means of communication with her mother, who is a bit technologically challenged.

"Sending My Letters To You"

SUPPLIES
White Bazzill cardstock
Patterned papers: Luxe Designs – Simple Lined Lime, Designer Eclectique Scroll
Chatterbox- Botanico Pool
Luxe Designs Simple Alpha Black
American Crafts Mini Marks (Purkey)
Prima tape
7 Gypsies rub-ons - Notting hill
Black glossy card
White card
String
paperclips
tags
Dymo
Stamp
Staples
Ribbon
Acrylic paint
Bubble wrap
Corrugated card
Sandpaper
Hole punch

HOW TO
Cut a piece of Simple Lined Lime to form a large index file shape. Ink the edge then dry brush with lime acrylic paint. Glue to page then print with bubble wrap and turquoise acrylic paint.
Cut a 2cm wide right-angled corner of the Lined Lime and cut around with a hole punch to form a stamp designed edge. Tear a section of Prima tape in half and add to the inner edge of the Lime paper. Add Prima tape directly to your layout to the right, tearing the ends. Glue your Lime corner to the layout.
Make a small envelope shape from glossy card and sand the edges. Add a piece of the Eclectique scroll to the inside and a tag made from white card. Add a label holder with journaling/ title in (I used American crafts rub-ons) and fix to layout.
Make a large tag decorated with string. On top of that add a rectangle of Botanica Pool and your photo. Decorate with paperclips and fix to layout gluing on the left/bottom and right sides only to form a pocket. Add another tag with journaling into the pocket.
For the main title: Apply letter stickers to scrap cardstock and dry brush over with lime acrylic paint. Remove sticker then cut the letter ‘negatives’ from the sheet to use as a mask. Line up on scrap card then dry brush black paint through a peel-off grid. Trim and edge with black pen.
Finally, add last of the photos. Finish with 7 Gypsies rub-ons and a stamp.
