Jessica - Baby banner & word

I made this banner for the door to my new baby's room.  As I was preparing his room, I found some old wooden puzzles that my older kids used.  However, there were a few pieces missing on the alphabet puzzle.  I didn't want to just throw it away and that's when inspiration struck.  Using papers from Scrapbook Outlet Online, I was able to make a decor item that is not only inexpensive, but is cute, fast to make, and matches perfectly with the colors of his room.  Don't know what to do with the leftovers?  Quickly cover a wooden word with the scraps to display elsewhere in the room.

Hyland Baby Banner and Wooden Baby Word
by Jessica Summers

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  We R Memory Keepers "Frenzy"- Glee ,Joy ,Mania, Rapture and Trance.
Chipboard: American Crafts
Ribbon: We R Memory Keepers "Heart Attack," American Crafts, Making Memories
Punch: Fiskars Border Punch Effervenscence
Miscellaneous:  glue dots, Wooden Alphabet Puzzle Pieces, Crop-a-Dile

HOW TO

   1. First make a template for your banner.  The cardstock triangle should measure 4.25" (10,8 cm) along the top and 5" (12,7 cm) on the sides.  The patterned paper triangles should measure 3.75" (9,5 cm) along the top and 4.5" (11,4 cm) along the sides.
   2. Adhere the patterned paper on top of the cardstock.  Outline with a black pen.
   3. Using the Fiskars Border Punch, punch a border out of matching cardstock.  Cut the strip from the cardstock, leaving about half an inch (1,3 cm) allowance.  Adhere on the back so that only the decorative border is showing.  Do this to all three sides of your triangle.
   4. The rosettes are easy to make.  Cut a 1" x 12" (2,5 cm x 30,5 cm) strip from patterned paper.  Make a small accordian fold along the length of the strip (like your folding a fan).  Glue one end to the other end, making sure to match up the folds.  When you do this, your shape will be a cylander.  Match up the top of your cylander and push down to form  your rosette.  Once you have your flower, adhere a small piece of cardstock to the middle of the flower on the back side.  This will help retain it's shape.
   5. Adhere your alphabet to the center of each rosette.  Adhere rosette to banner.
   6. Adhere ribbon to the top of each triangle.
   7. Punch a hole in the corner of each triangle. Using ribbon, tie a knot to string together your banner.
   8. Display with pride.  :)

Welcome to the world, Hyland Summers!

Cardstock: Bazzill Kraft
Alphabet stickers: Mustard Moon – cardstock stickers brown
Embroidery floss
Several stamps
QK Silhouette
QK tab die
Circle punch
Crop-a-dile

HOW TO
I bought a 2009 filling for an agenda planner with 1 week on 2 pages and made the cover of 2 pieces of chipboard. The cover and pages measure 20 x 15 cm.

I embroidered a frame on the front cover and used the Mustard Moon letter stickers to make a title. I cut the large M with my silhouette.

I have made several sections in my diary for keeping notes, recipes, scrapbooking inspiration etc. I folded a piece of basic grey paper (20 x 30cm) in half, fold to the rights side, holes in the left side and glued the bottom together in order to make a pocket in which I can keep several memorabilia. I included some writing paper and embellished the papers with stamps.

We Now Return!

A quick apology to our readers for the lack of updates. This past weekend there was an openhouse at ScrapbookMate's Warehouse to celebrate it's 5th year being open. Half of the design team went to Amsterdam for two days of workshops and make and takes for some of the wonderful retailers in Europe. For the remainder of the week, I'll post some of the lovely projects that were taught.

First up is a mini album Mireille made using the FaLaLa line.

Falala Mini Album

Supplylist:
Chipboard Album; Ziage Stadium book
Patterned Paper: Making Memories- Falala line
Glittered Poinsettia Red
Skinny stripe
*pinsettia stripe
*music note
*geometric
*snowflake
Holly Berries: making memories
Glitter foam Stickers: Making Memories
Glitter Pebble stickers: Making Memories

ink: stazon
Stamp: Prima journaling stamp
white Marker: American Crafts - Galaxy Marker
Tools: corner rounder ; Oval punch
tim Holtz distress tool
Crop a dile

How to:
cut two sheets of paper 30 x 12.5 cm, two sheets 27 1/2 x 12,5, two sheets 25 x 12,5; two sheets 22, 5 x 12.5; two sheets 20 x 12, 5 ; two sheets 17,5 x 12, 5
I started out with putting the glittered up paper on the cover and on the back
I cut 10 small strips of 5 x 12,5 paper and put those strips on the left side of each mini album page.. following to match the large sheet on the other side so if the if the right side of the page holds a stripe pattern and I put a small strip of music paper over the stripes.. I would start the left part of the album with a large sheet of music paper. I distressed all the edges of the patterned paper before adhering them.
I covered up the part where the patterned paper meets with a ribbon
I cut out ovals and distressed the edges. The ovals from the oval punch are the exact size of the wallet size pictures so they fit perfectly behind it to give it a lil extra dimension.
I used my marker along the edge of the photo to also give a bit extra dimension.
the half oval behind the picture leaves space to add stickers or other embellishments.
I used journaling stamps, cut them out of the patterened paper and distressed the edges. Now you can journal on it.
I used the vellum inbetween. did nothing special with it just used it as protection sheets like the old fashioned photo albums.
I used the ribbon with the lil balls at the edge of each right page.
Decorate your album with the flowers, leaves, glitter and pebble stickers.

Adhere onto the 'Peapod' paper, but be sure to leave the left outer edge free from adhesive. Cut a piece of the Memo Ledger sheet in half and place under the left side of the bracket edge.
Lightly trace around the placement of your photo. Cut various sizes of rectangular strips from the 'Dino' paper. Round the corners and ink the edges. Layer the strips along the outer edge of where the photo will lay. Use a long piece of ribbon to frame the photo.
Paint your Grungeboard using Making Memories Acrylics. Once dry, use an alternate color on the embossed parts. The arrows are flipped over, using the debossed area, which is filled in using a Souffle Pen from Sakura. Once all are dry, coat with a Glaze and ink the edges.

Put Your Money in a Book

It's easy to stick money in a card as a gift, but how about making a little book for it instead? Today Jessica shows us a quick and easy way to glam up a simple gift for anyone.

SUPPLIES:
Patterned Paper: Teresa Collins Damask
Gaffer Tape: Making Memories
Crystal Charm: Heidi Swapp
Distress Ink: Ranger
Liquid Chalk Ink: Colorbox (Pink and Glacier Ice)
Chipboard: Maya Road Trees
Die Cut: Doodlebug Paper Frills Beetle Black
Crop-A-Dile
Ribbon

HOW TO:
The money book measurements are based on a 20 Euro bill. If using different sized bills or currency, allow for a 1/2 inch border (and add an extra 1/4 inch to the length for the spine).

Cut a 6 inch x 3 1/4 inch (15.2 cm x 8.3 cm) rectangle from a thick cardstock or patterned paper.

Find the middle (lengthwise) and use a bone folder to make two vertical creases 1/8 inch (.6 cm) to either side of the middle. This will create the spine of the book.

Use a piece of gaffers tape along the side of the spine as reinforcement.

Stack your money and put inside your book. Use a thin complimentary ribbon (or string) to bind the money to the book, wrapping it around the book's spine and across the center of the bills. Knot your ribbon on the outer spine of the book and dangle a crystal from it.

Ink your chipboard and lightly distress the edges. Flip over the Paper Frills (I only had black, so I'm using the white side), ink with the Pink liquid chalk, then right a short message to the recipient.

Punch two holes through the front and back covers (becareful not to punch through your money!). Tie a bow with another piece of ribbon to tie shut.

Does Anybody Have a Tissue?

Today Kirs shows us how she altered a tissue box from Creative Imaginations. She keeps this box in her kitchen, on the dressoir. A big eye-catcher! Better than the plain boxes that tissues typically come in!

SUPPLIES:
Tissuebox : Creative Imagations
Transparency : Hambly screen prints
Stamps : Sassa Frass and one made by myself (guirlande)
Ink : Stazon black
Paper: Elsie, Scenic Route
Photo-corners : Heidi Swapp
Paint green grey : Making Memories
Eyelets silver
Soufflepen blue
Pen : Poscanpen white green blue
Felt blue and orange
Vintage paper
Memoblock paper
Memocard (or price card)
Stitcher
Clear button
Touwtje
Plastic bubble wrap
Crop-a-Dile

HOW TO:
Paint the box in green. Take plastic bubble wrap and apply grey paint on it. Then stamp the wrap onto your box. When it is dry, outline the circles with a blue poscapen.
For the button with a star: take a star stamp and ink it with stazon black, then stamp it on the clear button. Once it is dry, make random outlines with a green poscapen. Use some string to make a faux stitch.
With a Crop-A-Dile, add silver eyelets to the corners of the photos. Randomly add small dots on with a white soufflepen, then outline the dots with a blue or green poscapen.
Adhere the photos on three different layers; a piece paper (Elsie or Scenic Route), a piece transparency, and vintage paper. Embillish it with tabs, stars, bling, wordstickers, felt, photo-anchors and clips.
One side of the tissue box is used for journaling. Use your piece os memoblock paper, memocard, photo-corner and felt to decorate.
