Girls just wanna have fun

After making an album for Amber's friend Chelsey Amber got a little jealous, she wanted something too... so with the circles I cut too much.. I created this layout!

SUPPLIES
Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned Paper: Scrap Within Reach * Emmerson Collection - cotton candey - sweet pea - Freckles
Punches: EK succes / Make Me!
Coluzzle mal
Distressor: Tim Holtz
Hugz- Scrapworks
Ribbon: Heidi Swapp
Pen: American Crafts / Sakura / Zig

Floss: DMC
Stickers: Carolee's Creations


HOW TO
Punch different size circles using a circle punch and I used coluzzle templates.
distress the edges using your distressor
Create faux stitches on your cardstock and on the circles by punching holes with a needle and draw them with pens
create a diagonal overlapping the circles.
punch flowers and butterflies and outline them with a zig marker
use the Hugz as flower centers
stitch a few "stars" with reg. DMC floss

Emma- Scrap Within Reach

SUPPLIES
Bazzill cardstock white
Patterned papers: Scrap Within Reach (Industrial Park Collection) Warehouse, historic district, the factory, industrial loft, market street.
Making Memories dye (Wheatgrass)
American Crafts Zing embossing powder (Gold)
Tim Holtz stamp (Stamper Anonymous)
Making Memories eclectic brads (bug collection)
Ranger alcohol ink (slate grey)
Scrapworks alpha stickers
Tags,string, fabric mesh, ribbon.

HOW TO
Mix the dye with one cup of warm water. Brush directly onto the cardstock background. The dye leaves a lovely smooth tint on the cardstock.

Add matted photos to tags with strips of patterned paper then layer up onto layout with more torn and cut strips of patterned paper. Cut out the cogs and add to layout as embellishments. I also drew two corn ears onto patterned paper, cut them out and added to the layout.

Stamp and emboss the stamp onto glossy cardstock and add to layout.

Paint the foam alphabet with alcohol ink to colour it and allow to dry.

Finish by adding the journaling tag, dragonfly brad, mesh, ribbon bow and the title.

HOW TO
I went a little wild on punches with this mini album.
I love it however because it gives me the opportunity to create fast and easy.
I punched a bunch of circles and squares and a few borders with the border punches
I then punched butterflies and flowers.
I drew accents on the butterflies, flowers and the borders with a black Zig marker
I distressed the edges of the squares and circles with Tim Holtz distressing tool
I then punched holes and made fake stitches using my pens.
I put everthing together using the ribbon as little tags.
I used the hugz as flower centers and put in some flock.

Moniek- Making Memories Love Notes


Giftbox

SUPPLIES
Paper: Making Memories Love Notes
Labelholder: Making Memories antique white rectangle
Brads: Making Memories silver circle brads
Silver flower: Making Memories flower combo I Do
Glimmer Mist: Tattered angels – pearl
Chipboard heart: Scrapworks Shimmer shapes
Ribbon out of my own stash
Brown ink
White embroidery floss
Large flower from dollar store
Small round wooden box

HOW TO:
Adhere Love Notes paper to the box and ink edges with brown ink
Adhere broderie to the lid of the box and sew close to the edge of the strip of paper that will be glued to the lid.
Bend the Making Memories labelholder just a little so it will fit around the box and attach with 2 silver brads
Spray glimmermist on the flowers to give them a nice glimmer en pearly shine.
Tie organza ribbon around the box and make a bow on top.
Adhere flowers in the middle of the lid, using glue dots
Attach chipboard heart and now you have a nice little giftbox for your valentine.

Bling: Heidi Swapp Jewel pink
Making Memories Love Notes word fetti
Chipboard frame
Pink paint
Pink glitter
2 red brads
Organza pink ribbon
Sewing machine

HOW TO
Cut a strip of 5 x 15 cm of Making Memories Love Notes paper and adhere to a page from Making Memories Journaling book.
Cut a piece of 15 x 17 cm of pomegranate cardstock, fold at 5,5 cm and attach to paper. Cut right side of cardstock into half a circle, so you won’t see the cardstock from the front.
Use a sewing machine to sew along the edges.
Tie organza ribbon on your card.
Paint chipboard frame with pink paint and while the paint is still wet, sprinkle pink glitter over it.
Cut a piece of paper to fit underneath the chipboard frame and attach this together with the painted chipboard to the front of the card with 2 red brads.
Attach Making memories word fetti sticker above the chipboard frame.
Attach chipboard heart over the chipboard frame with foamtape and attach HS jewel to the heart.
Finish your card with an alpha sticker.

Moniek- Repurposing Packaging




I have read several times that one of the trends for 2009 will be re-use and recycle. With this in mind I recycled the package of some Heidi Swapp felt butterflies into a small valentines gift.

It’s easy to make and you can use all your leftovers!

How to:
Cut 8 x 11 cm from Making Memories Love Notes paper and round all 4 corners.
Ink edges with brown ink.
Cut a small strip from Making Memories Love Notes paper, ink edges and adhere.
Embroider above the small strip.
Apply rubon to the package and place letter sticker
Fill package with valentine candy and put Making Memories paper in the package.
Close package and tie with organza ribbon. Attach chipboard heart.

Mireille- Let's Eat Ice

HOW TO
Distress the edges of your paper.
Cut a piece of the glitter lace cardstock and place your patterned paper over it.
I adhered the snowflakes with clear glue and used stickles to give them that extra pop.
I used puffy paint on the ribbon and a white galaxy marker on my title and along my photographs.
I embroided little "snowflakes" with DMC.
Add phototurns and label .

Fanny and Rachel- **KAISERCRAFT**

We have just one more Christmas related project to share from Fanny. She altered a KaiserCraft tree to hold photos of her and her family. The project following this one comes from Rachel and it uses the trifold mini (also from Kaiser).


KaiserCraft Christmas Tree

SUPPLIES
Papers:Scrapworks (paper season collection)
KaiserCraft christmas tree
Glitter: stickles gold
Glimmer mist from Tattered angels: gold and red velvet
buttons: daisy D's
chipboards: Warehouse art (diamond)

HOW TO
Take Kaiser craft "christmas tree" and glimmer mist. Put two sort of glimmer mist on the "tree" (red and gold).
Take your paper and cut a lot of circles. Ink the circles and score them.
Adhere circles on left parts of the tree (there are 4 parts)
Mat your photos and adhere pics on the right parts.
Add embellishments on the top of the tree (chipboard from warehouse art), buttons and glitters and garlands (these are cut papers).
You can add glimmer mist on papers.
Add strips of paper on the edges of the tree. and then ink them.

Thick elastic (anything you like the look of – this was from a local haberdashery)

HOW TO
Paint the wooden flourishes you wish to use with the green paint and set aside to dry
Cover the 2 front flaps of the book with patterned paper. Sand down the edges with a small sanding block or nail file to get a neat finish and poke the holes through from front to back.
Paint the backs (or insides) of the front flaps with the green paint and set aside to dry.
Cover the inside leaf of the album with patterned paper and poke the holes through as with the front flaps.
Attach a photograph to the inside and add glitter to the edges. Decorate with the wooden flourishes, rhinestones and flowers. Add a button the centre of the large flower and attach a rhinestone in the centre of the button. Cover the exposed part of the button with glossy accents and sprinkle with glitter.
Decorate the painted sides of the two side flaps using patterned paper, rhinestones and flowers. Add the title using the thickers and decorate the centre of the flower in the same way as the large flower on the previous piece. Add journaling using a black pen.
Decorate the fronts of the side flaps with the rhinestones and wooded word. Cover the word carefully with glossy accents and sprinkle with glitter.
Once all pieces have dried and glossy accents has set, lace the sections of the album together using the elastic.

HOW TO
Lay strips of patterned paper along a curved ruler and tear so you get "wavy " paper.
Distress the edges using the Tim Holtz distressing tool.
Paint the grungeboard elements first (I used white for the wings and red for the heart).
Once it has dried paint with the red glitter glaze over the red paint and with the pearl glaze over the white paint.
I used the tiny alpha's for the "subtitle" layed them down in a curve and outlined them with a black pen.
I only had clear bling and decided to make that blue using alcohol inks.
I used buttons, flowers and stickers to embellish my project.

Today's layout is from Moniek and it's a touching page about the last day of her daughter being 7 years old. The clean lines and rich blues are a beautiful tribute to the excitement a little girl feels the day before she turns 8 and the sadness from a mother who feels time won't slow down.

HOW TO:
Sand the edges of your photo and place on Basic Grey Kazoo blue paper. Print journaling directly onto shipping tag and adhere printed tag on your layout. Cut strip from the Make a Wish paper and from the Chatterbox ribbon. Attach with silverbrads to your layout. Use your Quickutz to make title. I have also handcut the 7. Place them next to the photo. Emboider a frame around your photo and title. Cut a small strip from Prehistoric paper and place vertically over your photo. Place dymo strip right beside this. Embellish your page with Making Memories die cuts, stamps, stickers and Iron on words.

2 layouts from Giselle

We have a bit of catching up to do here at A Daily Inspiration! So today we have two layouts from England's very own Giselle Homer. Check out the fab felt in the first layout from Fancy Pants. And notice in her second layout the single upside down chipboard letter that correlates with the photo/theme of her page!

Cut a piece of BG Fruitcake to 8.5" x 11" and use as the base
Take 2 photos each sized 4" x 3" and print with a white border
Adhere these approx 2.5" from the top & 1" from the right edge of the base
Add the felt embellishments and attach the brads
Make up the title using the chipboard letters
Apply the rub-on phrases below the photos

HOW TO:
Cut a piece of Bazzill cardstock 8.5" x 11" and use as the base
Sand the edges of a 6 x 4 photo & adhere it at an angle, approximately 4" from the top an 2" from the right edge of the base
Cut 8 strips of patterned paper in varying widths & arrange randomly around the photo to form a frame
Make the title using the Thickers and the small letters (if appropriate)
Apply the glaze to the chipboard buttons using a paintbrush & allow to dry
Attach the buttons as shown, using the brads
Adhere the embellishment in the lower left corner of the patterned strips
Apply the rub-on pattern along the edges of the small letters
