How to:
Before you start, cut along the spine of each page to separate the pages.
Front cover:
Cover the chipboard with patterned paper. Draw around the chipboard bracket shape and cut the chipboard page. Paint two brackets with black acrylic paint, allow to dry, and then glue one on the front cover. Cut shapes from Rusty Pickle paper and add to cover. Paint chipboard shapes with acrylic paint and glue to cover when dry. Finish by adding title.
Page 2 (Blue page)
Cover chipboard with blue cardstock. Add the second painted chipboard bracket. Dry brush acrylic paint in the centre of the page. When dry, add patterned paper strips and shapes cut from papers.
Page 3 (Green page)
Cover chipboard page with green cardstock. Place Heidi Swapp chipboard stars across the page and use as a mask to sponge acrylic paint onto cardstock. Draw around the inside of the bracket shape onto lined paper and add to page. Add patterned paper strips and shapes as desired. Colour in quote using Glimmer Mist as watercolour.
Page 4 (White page)
Cover chipboard page with white cardstock. Spray with Key Lime Pie and turquoise Glimmer mist. Draw around the mini monogram numbers onto white card, overlapping as you work. Colour around the outside of the monograms with coloured pencil and add to page. Add chipboard frame, slide mounts, patterned paper strips and shapes and title. Finish By using Glimmer Mist as water colour over title.
Page 5 (Black page)
Cover page with black cardstock. Dip an old paintbrush into acrylic paint and splatter over page, using three or more colours. Draw around monograms onto white card, overlapping as you work then add to page. Colour the inside of the monograms with coloured pencil. Add patterned paper strips and shapes. Colour in some of the patterned paper elements as required. Add page title.
Page 6 (Pink Page)
Cover the page with pink cardstock. Apply acrylic paint to bubble wrap and stamp onto cardstock. Add patterned paper strips and shapes. Add monograms drawn onto white card, cut out then coloured in with coloured pencils. Make a Christmas tree by using the arrow heads on the patterned paper, overlapping three together and adding a thin ‘trunk’. Colour in the dots and add Diamond Glaze to enhance and resemble baubles. Embellish as desired.
Finishing the book.
Bind the edges of the page. I used Making Memories adhesive tape dyed with alcohol inks (Very quick and effective to do). I also used thin strips of Bazzill to suit.
Punch a strip of scrap card with the Bind-it All. Use this strip as a template and mark the holes on the page edges. Punch the holes using the Big Bite. Align two pages together and bind with the Bind-It-All and wired. Align this with another page and thread embroidery floss through the holes to join together. Repeat as necessary until you have formed a concertina book.
Finish by adding ribbons to the wires and painted chipboard pieces threaded onto the spine as charms.

Altered Snowmen and X-mas Swag
By: Emma Trout
The materials for these, both papers and decorations, can be found in the shop.
Emma has mostly used Basic Grey all around and we do have those at EXCELLENT prices!
There are also rubons by Making Memories and, of course, you'd need the Foam Craft Balls.
The Snowmen were originally an idea by Linda Albrecht - thank you very much for the inspiration!
Show Info:
Now, if you'd like to see these cuties IRL (and of course you do!) and you're near Cardiff, well... You're in LUCK! Scrapbook Outlet Online are attending the ICHF - International Craft and Hobby Fair in Cardiff this weekend!
Not "only" will you be able to admire Emma's handiwork up close and personal - there will be other hands on examples of X-mas items by our DT and there will, of course, be a LOT of bargains waiting to be made...
Have fun - we'll see you in Cardiff, I hope!!

Pirate/princess birthday table decoration (cake stand).
by Emma Trout
SUPPLIES
Rusty Pickle circular chipboard album
Rusty Pickle black cardstock
Rusty Pickle patterned papers: Alvilda, Anne Bonney, Elizabeth Swan, and Jane de Bellewille
Rusty Pickle black lace and pink Gingham
Bazzill cardstock (pink and white)
Doodlebug sugar coating
Claudine Hellmuth multi-medium gloss
Fiskars threading water punch
Stix2 anything glue dots
Other:
Pringles tube, kitchen roll, plastic plumbers pipe, wooden skewer, polystyrene ball, acrylic paint, kitchen sponge, pearl string, small paper doily, small lollipops, shredded tissue paper, string, eyelets, and 6 x small polystyrene balls or real cupcakes! Blue-tack, 8.5” doilies, black sharpie pen, ¼” punch
HOW TO
Glue two pieces of the circular album together and leave to dry.
Cut two pieces of the circular album to 6” Diameter, glue together and leave to dry.
Cut two pieces of the circular album to 4” diameter, glue together and leave to dry.
Mark the centre of the three circles and cut a hole just wider than the diameter of your plastic pipe.
Bottom layer:
Paint both sides with pink acrylic paint and allow to dry. Cut out the black ‘diamond’ shapes from the Jane de Bellewille paper and arrange around the outside of the circle with the points facing the centre circle. Glue into position. Apply a layer of gloss multi-medium with a sponge using a dabbing action (this leaves a nice finish when dry).
Glue a length of black lace onto white cardstock to go around the circumference of the circle, trim the excess and then glue to the edge of the circle. Finish with a string of pearls.
Middle layer:
Paint 6” circle with black acrylic paint and allow to dry. Glue a small doily in the centre then apply a layer of multi-medium with a sponge.
Gather the gingham ribbon, fixing the gathers with pins, and then sew to fix into place using black thread.
Top layer:
Paint both sides of 4” circle with white acrylic paint and leave to dry. Cut out swirls from Jane de Bellewille paper and arrange around the centre hole. Glue into position and fix using multi-medium applied with a sponge.Cut out diamonds from Jane de Bellewille paper, fold in half and glue. Trim any excess paper. Glue diamonds around edge of top layer, again trimming any excess.
Assembling the stand:
Push the plastic pipe through the centre holes of the chipboard circles. Measure the spacing you require for each layer and remove pipe. Cut kitchen roll to your measurements (in between bottom and middle layer, and the top and middle layer) and cover kitchen roll with the striped Alvilda paper.
Cut the bottom 10cm off a Pringles tub and cover with Alvilda paper. Cut a hole in the centre for your pipe and finish with a strip of white Bazzill cut using a threading water punch.
Push the pipe through the bottom layer circle and the Pringles tub (so it forms a base).Add the bottom layer applying glue around the joins. Add the kitchen roll ‘sleeve’ and repeat for each layer until the stand is assembled.
The lollipop holder (top layer)
Paint the bottom half of a large polystyrene ball with multi-medium and cover with black sugar coating. Knock off excess and allow to dry. Repeat using white sugar coating for the top half. Cover the join using pirates cut from Elizabeth Swan paper.
Push a wooden skewer into the bottom of ball, add glue to top layer hole then place the ball into place on top of the stand (the skewer goes inside the plastic pipe).
Cover lollipops with patterned papers, finish with paper spirals and push into the polystyrene ball.
Middle layer:
Draw an 8.5” circle and a 6.5” inner circle onto black and white card. Cut out the circles and then cut the circle into quarters. Wrap each ‘quarter’ around itself to form a cupcake holder and glue the end. You could also add a circular base.
Cut the outside inch from the 8.5” doily and use to decorate the outside of the cupcake older. On the white holders colour the doily with black sharpie pen. Finish with the fleur-de-lys pattern cut from Jane de Bellewille paper.
Now for the sore fingers part!!
Punch ¼” circles from the Elizabeth Swan paper with a circular centre in each. Fix circles round the polystyrene ball using glue dots until they are covered.
Mould a small piece of blue-tack to form a cherry for the top of cake. Apply multi-medium and sprinkle with pink sugar coating. Allow to dry and glue on top of each ‘cake’.
Arrange cakes into position.
Bottom layer:
Cut three black and three white bags from Bazzill cardstock. I used a template from this site: http://yayoi.senri.ed.jp/departments/OISTech/OISDT/gr7dt/templates.htm
Decorate the bags with patterned paper and add a rose or pirate to decorate the front of each bag. Mark and punch two holes on each side at the top of the bag and set eyelets. Add string loops to form handles. Fill the bags with shredded tissue paper and treats. Add to the cake stand.
Use the stand as a table decoration and enjoy the party!

HOW TO
Paint the inside edge of the frame with black acrylic paint and leave to dry.
Glue a piece of Jack Be Nimble paper across the top half of the inside frame.
Cut two hill shapes from the reverse Baby Bunting and Snap papers. Ink the edges, add lace to the back of each ‘hill’ then glue onto the layout across the centre.

Add twigs to form the branches and trunks. I then made some roses made by cutting circles from the reverse Teachers pet, cutting into a spiral and then folding the spiral inwards to form the flower. This technique I learnt from my talented friend Lucy Folch. These were added to the trees.
I added clouds cut from Hickory Dickory and matted them onto silver foil. Cut houses from the My little Shoebox paper and place on top of the hill. Cut a path from white card and glue into position coming down the hills. Edge with string pearls.
Paint coffee sticks with white acrylic paint then pearl dabber when dry. Trim the length and fix together to form a fence. Glue into position across the left/middle page.

Paint coffee sticks with white acrylic paint then pearl dabber when dry. Trim the length and fix together to form a fence. Glue into position across the left/middle page.
Cut a path that will go along the bottom of canvas. Add seed beads to form gravel. Glue into position and edge with pearl beads.
Form spirals of paper and glue into position along the edge of the path. Glue reindeer moss into the garden borders. Cut the inner flowers of the Mary Quite Contrary paper and glue along the borders. Add gems to flower centres. Form a plant support with three small pieces of straw. Add spirals of paper and more flowers.
Cut heart shapes from Sadie Hawkins paper. Use these to make flower shapes on the fence and shells to go along top of garden.
Add photos.
Cover the edge of the canvas frame with Doodlebug Flocked paper.
Add butterflies with craft wire spirals and pearl bodies to top right of canvas.
Paint two shells with acrylic paint. When dry, brush Stix2 pva on shell ridges. When dry, add Stix2 foil on the pva.
Add mesh to bottom left corner of canvas. Glue shells onto mesh and add a ribbon bow and a cluster of silver bells. Add Prima crystal swirls.
Finish by adding title. Enjoy!
