Missing Men

Tomorrow, the United States will celebrate Memorial Day, a holiday that commemorates the men and women who gave their life while in military service to their country. Typically, Americans observe the holiday by visiting cemetaries and memorials. Today, Mireille shares a touching layout featuring an American Cemetary in Margraten, Netherlands. It's an older layout of hers, but she felt the message is a great one to share.

JOURNALING

"After the war, Grandpa adopted a grave at the American Cemetery in Margraten. Unfortunately Grandpa died way too young and nobody knew about this grave until we were contacted by the administration of the cemetery. Dad then adopted this grave and although we don't celebrate "Memorial Day" here in Holland, that seemed like an appropriate day to bring flowers to the grave and say "thank you" for giving us freedom. We were overwhelmed by what we saw. The graves by itself looked so beautiful and peaceful. A big field of Marble Crosses. Every grave had a dutch and an american flag, there were so many flowers but what was most impressive was the fly-by of military jets in the "missing men formation."

Lovely LO, I really like how you've kept it simple so that it doesn't detract from the photos. And an even lovelier story :)
