The Return of the (Not So) Ugly Album

When the Daily Inspirations blog began earlier this year, Mireille revamped a scrapbook that most of us would not have given a second look in it's original state. Once finished, it was a beautiful monochromatic wonder! Today she does it again, but this time with an even trickier "Ugly Duckling." The original cover of the scrapbook is fabric and has a tapestry feel to it, but that did not stop her from working her magic.

This is a wedding album for her brother and sister in law. Check out the center of the large flower. She recycled a Maya Road tin and added flower petals from the bridal bouquet!

SUPPLIES
Pretex
Gesso
Paint: Making Memories
Swirls: Maya Road
Prima decorative tape
Prima paper bird
Prima large flowers and small blossoms
Paper lace: Creative Imaginations
Bling: Heidi Swapp
Metallic Rubon: MakeMe!
Alpha's : Making Memories
Tin Can: Maya Road.
HOW TO
I covered the album in several layers of Pretex.
Then I added paint in a few shades of green and mixed it with gesso. Just put a few squirts of paint and gesso on the cover and mix it with your fingers in a circular motion. Add a little gold paint as a final step.
I painted the cardboard swirls gold and I cut a cardboard mat for my picture and painted it gold too. After this dried, I added a dark brown rubon.
When the paint on the album was dry, I added prima tape around the corners to outline it.
I added the gold painted swirls and decorated them with little flowers and bling.
I adhered the photo in the center of the front cover and added paper lace as an extra border.
I used to large Prima flowers, added the initials of my brother and sister in law, and as a flower center I added a metal maya road can.
Inside the can I stuffed dried flower petals from her bridal bouquet.
I used a little gold rubon on the paper bird and adhered that to the flowers too.
